Baby showers have been a
long standing tradition. However, the ritual as we know it today only
started at the end of World War II, thanks to the Baby Boom. The baby
shower, in its simplest form, originated back to the ancient Egyptians
and Romans. During these times, it was a celebration after the birth of
the baby. Family and friends would bring handmade gifts, clothing and
food.
With the baby’s needs as the main focus, mommy-to-be can
get over looked. Not to say the gifts given today don’t have mommy in
mind, but many are still for baby. It could be a new set of pajamas to
keep her looking fabulous in hospital. A spa or massage treatment,
before or after baby’s arrival, will make her feel great. No matter the
gift, it will help mommy-to-be feeling like a million dollars.
