Anyone can put money in an envelope and, sure, it’s definitely appreciated...but, sometimes, you want to give the bride and groom a special gift. If they are an active, sporty couple, think about getting them a season ticket plan to their favorite local sports team, or a partial-season package, depending on your budget.

If you are more on the sentimental side and your best friend is getting married, think about all your memories together and you may come up with the perfect gift. You could always create a scrapbook, highlighting the good times you have shared and emphasizing how new memories can be made with your friend's new spouse. Using nice photo albums and frames will enable the new couple to fill their home with happy memories and images of loved ones.

One of the best I have seen is a first dance where the bride and groom put together a music montage with little blurbs from all of their favorite songs. Here's an interesting idea for a guest book: Have one of the Bridesmaids or a trusted family member (maybe even a niece or nephew who is looking to play an important role) take a Polaroid picture of guests as they arrive, paste it to the pages of the guest book and have them sign below their picture. Vanity Fare Caterers Wedding Tip April 12, 2010

Beyond your Bridal Party, there are several other people who you will want to thank for helping to make your day special. When discussing tipping, the general rule is that if you hire someone from a company then you tip but, if you hire the owner, then you are not obligated to tip that person. For delivery and security people, $5-$10 per person is customary; for hair and make-up services, 15-20% of the total bill is what should be tipped; the same tip of 15-20% of the bill is also tipped to chauffeurs; valets and restroom attendants generally receive $0.50 per guest; photo and video crew can split 10% of the total bill as a gratuity and your Maitre d’ generally receives $2 to $3 per guest in attendance as a gratuity. Above and beyond the service charge, you can tip $20-$40 per bartender and $20-$25 per server if you would like. It is best to put tips in envelopes beforehand and have a trusted family friend or member of the Bridal Party distribute them discreetly.

Wedding Tip April 8, 2010 Vanity Fare Caterers

When it comes to registering for your wedding, make sure that your guests have the opportunity to give you something that you really want, that you need and will use.

Start by registering at stores that offer registry rewards and an on-line registry service. This should be a great experience for both you and your guests. Register as early as possible so that your registries will be ready for any engagement parties, showers, etc. Try not to register at more than three establishments. When you have a lot of different registries, you confuse your guests.

Make sure to register for things that you will need and use and not what others are telling you to register for. Check your registry often on-line to make any adjustments as they are needed. Register for enough items (1.5 gifts for each person you invite) and at many different price points which makes it easier for people to buy you the gifts you want. Make sure that the groom has a say in what you register for as well. Remember to register for the things that you really need. It’s great to get nice gifts, but not if they are just going to sit in the cupboard.
